I noticed a red stain on the ground under the front of my truck.
Looking under it appears the trans cooler lines are leaking the surface is rusted badly. I'm afraid to drive it in fear the lines mite let go and fry my tranny.
Called Ford for replacement lines and was told there are none you have to replace them with steel tubing.
My question is how hard is this to do and if anyone has done this could you please list step by step instructions on how its done as I am handy and low on cash at the moment "holidays killed me" To all that reply THANKS for taking the time to help me out. PS working on the ground in the snow.

If you are QUITE certain it is the line leaking and not a leak running along the line to a low spot you have two options. One is to cut out the offending section and clamp on a section of hose in place of the rusted thru section. Another is to add a braided line from a known good point to the cooler (will require some specialized work to make a connector suitable to mate on the old line) there are other similar connecting up a new portion type options. Lastly you could try and fabricate a new line by removing the old one and getting a suitable length of steel tubing. OW.

Could it be just the rubber tubing that connects the aux. trans cooler? If so, just replace the rubber tubing.
