How long is the tranny fluid good for in the '95 Explorer's? Mine has 58,900 miles and I was wondering if it need changing. Is the fluid good until 100K? I got recommendations from the dealership that it should be changed but does it realyy need it?

I had a transmission flush done at 123k after I bought my ex with 120k miles on it...I think it still had the original fluid. I think you should change the filter every year or so to keep the fluid as clean as possible.

I think the recommended fluid change interval is 16,000 miles. The auto transmission in Explorer is known to be weak, so I change mine every 12,000 miles.
16,000  . . .the manufacture recommended is 90k for 95+ i think. But I'd change it more often than that. . .I changed it at 30k just to be on the safe side.

I meant change the filter at least once a year  I was thinking of another car...this is what happens when you post on too many boards :p

60K is recommended. I'd go for the full flush if you haven't changed the fluid at this point yet. Don't think they change the filter when they do the flush, so get that done seperately. I had mine flushed at 30K, just had the regular 60K filter and fluid change. Plan on having the flush done again at 90K and so on and so on, and hopefully the tranny will keep on going......
