Tranny Help

I just bought a 96 xlt 6 cyl. and I had it checked and it is giving a shift selonoid code, and it is having trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd. I want to know how hard it is to change this part, I know it is in the valve body inside the tranny any help would be great. thanks

This will require that you remove the transmission pan and filter, and remove the valve body. Not all that difficult really, just not fun. A book on the trannie would be helpful - there are about 25 longish small bolts thru the valve body and they vary in length. You might use the book to make sure you get them back where they belong. The Removal and Replacement of the solenoid is rather simple actually. Buy the ATSG manual for $15
