tranny install ?

Hello. I've got a 2WD manual that I'm putting a new Centerforce clutch into. I'm having trouble getting the tranny and the block back together. When I try to slide the input shaft into the flywheel, the tranny stops about half an inch short. I used the little plastic splined tool to hold the clutch disc while installing the pressure plate.

The Ford manual says something about compressing the pressure plate's fingers in a press. Does anyone know anything about this?

Any suggestions would be greatly welcome.

First check to see if the spline count on the new clutch is the same as the tranny.
If it is..... Loosen the plate and insert your alignment tool and double check that your all lined up.
