I'm replacing my rad on a 97 5.0L and I have removed the tranny lines from the rad. I have two questions:
1. When I install the lines in the rad do i need thread tape or antisieze for the fittings?

2. Do I have to worry about air getting into the fluid lines. Like in a brake system.

Sorry if these questions sound dumb, I'm just worried about making a mistake. Thanks.

1) A little tape wount hurt
2) No

No tape! You shouldn't need it. The fittings don't require that type of seal. If you absolutely have to have something, use teflon pipe sealant. Not tape. It's possible for a itty bitty piece of that tape to get in your oil..then your trans...then your valve body.

they are flared fittings so if you have to seal them replace them

They seal with the flare surface not the threads. They should not leak ever when tight.

FYI, a lot of aftermarket inverted flare fittings will leak when new. It seems to be common, they take too much torque to stop them from leaking. I often install an o-ring into them to begin with. They rarely ever leak then, and it takes far less torque. Regards,
