Tranny locking up-5spd

This is my first post. I just bought a '91 XL 5spd (my first car) but it has one little problem. When you let the clutch out the tranny bogs the engine down and it won't go. Is there any typical reasons why a standard would do this? Also, the anti-lock light is on, so would this have anything to do with it? My dad and I are assuming that we will need to replace the tranny but we thought we would check first to see if there was an easy fix. Thanks

If I'm out in left field on this, then just ignore me, but my gut reaction points to brakes instead of transmission -- something like a parking brake left on/not releasing. Can you push the vehicle? Spin the tires with the transmission in neutral?

Thanks for the reply. You can move it when the engine is off and the clutch is depressed. It won't move in neutral.

It won't move in Neutral? Ouch. I'd get that to a good transmission shop ASAP.
