tranny prob?

Hey guy's..... I have had this probles with ym 2001 AWD for a while.... when ever i come to a stop i hear the tranny or what i think is the tranny down shift from second to first... its a clunk.. or a bang.... I have taken it to the dealer and they find nothing wrong.. WTF? the truck also does not shift as nice as it use to.. like if im getting onto the parkway it will allmost redline before it down shifts... what couild it be? i know the v8 tranny is a lot better then the v6 tranny... but what could it be? also i have just over 31k on the truck... the prob started at about 22k and has gotten a little worst as time goes by..


any ideas?

the only thing I could suggest is checking the fluid, other than that, my tranny kind of had those problems before it went out, but it was a lot worse. It wouldn't get into gear, and fall out of gear as I am moving.

I have similar problems with mine, it doesn't make a noise, but it revs rather high and shifts very hard (I describe it as "lunges") the dealership swears its fine and tells me the 4R70W is "just picky like that" I am on my 2nd 4R70W the 1st one was doing this at 45k miles, they replaced it and on the drive home this new one was doing the same thing.. I have been telling the dealership theres something wrong wiht it since I got it, they've told me "its just picky" over and over and over, now its out of warranty. .I bet you they wont be saying that anymore.

get a non-dealership opinion if you have the money, thats what I plan to do as soon as I have a spare $300 for them to look over it

I was having problems a short while back and it all turned out to be incorrect level of fluid, I actually had too much fluid in the tranny, let it thoroughly warm up (at least 20 miles) and check the level, all my problems went away after I drained alittle fluid.

I had a prob with my 4r70w. In between 3rd and 4th gear on medium throttle only it would make the whole car shake. The problem was solved when I just got my transmission flushed and the rear diff. fluids changed. So try just changing the fluids.
