tranny question

Hello all, im new to the forums and have a question about a tranny.i have a 1996 explorer xlt i guess it has a 4r55e tranny that needs replaced so my question is,i have a 5r55e out of a 2000ish exp i was wondering if it would bolt in without any modification are all the electrical plugs and everything the same so i can just install plug and go? any help would be appreciated thanks

There most likely will be some differences between the 96 and the 2000. You might get better answers in the tranny section.

I would imagine you would need to swap/program the ecm to accommodate the change from 4 to 5 speed
