I have an 02 with the 55W tranny. Do the V8's have the same tranny or a better one? Did Ford improve this on the 06-10 models? I have had very good luck with my 02. It has 131K but I have had complete tranny service on it at a good Ford dealer. Trying to decide if to keep it, redo the tranny when it goes or get a different one.

My 03 with orginal tranny and 1 fluid change, it just recently started to show signs of what I think are solenoid issues (i.e. 5th gear to 3rd gear downshift is slow and waivers between gears). I had a rebuild on my 5r55s Mustang, same problem (shifted much more poorly), didn't help with the harsh changes (did with servo bore issues thought), but a new solenoid really helped with the bucking, failure to shift, etc.

I am thinking my solenoid might be on its way out......
