96' Ford Explorer XLT
Hey,
I have a 96' 4.0. The tranny is pretty much shot now. Whenever i put it into drive it takes about 5-6 (sometimes 20-30) seconds before it goes in to gear.
Once i get my jeep back together, so that I'll have a car to drive while the explorer is out, im going to pull the tranny out and have it rebuilt. I was just considering the other day mabye I could find a new tranny? A better tranny? to put in, instead of rebuilding the old one. There is 125,000 miles on the old one. Anyone have some ideas of what a good tranny would cost?, where I can buy one?, and what tranny?? Or should I just pay the money to rebuild this one? My plans on the Ex in the future are to make it as powerful as possible(ha), In a few year I'm thinking about getting a SuperCharger. Thats the only reason that I am considering finding a New (mabye a rebuilt) stronger Tranny. Just wondering if you guys could give me some opinions on this!
Thanks alot,
Kendal

Does Jaspers do trannys? Search for Jaspers and see what you find. I think I've heard of people replacing with them, but I'm not sure if I'm confusing replacement engines with trannys. It's Friday and my brain is fried!

Yep Jasper does trannies! They are supposed to be stronger than stock.
