Trans died without warning 93 ex sport

HELP I pulled in to a parking lot and stopped, left truck running approx 5 mins and when I put it in gear the tranny made a high pitch whine and now it will not move in any gear .. fluid is fine * red and non cloudy and the level is fine * any idea what it could be !!!! any help is greatly appreciated

Could be any one of a number of possible things - none of them would be anything less than a "pull the trannie to find out" thing though, and regardless, on a 93 trannie, if you pull it, rebuild it.

thank you for the response... I towed the truck home on a flat bed and tried the gears again still nothing just what seems to be a dead trannie . would any of you recommend getting a ebay trans or rebuilding it from a master kit ? .... I have rebuilt a trans before and I do have the original ford trans repair manual

Go to the "Useful Threads" forum and read the long series I did on "My A4LD Rebuild Diary".. part 4, postscript contains the answer to your question, but the series is a DIY bible for a rebuild of the A4LD including possible improvements and upgrades. Has some good links in it too.
