Hi guys hope you can help me with this. I have a 93 4x4 with the 4.0/ automatic. I noticed the problem when the motor oil level was increasing.I thought It was water at first but it wasn't foamy or milky.anyway I pulled the upper intake and saw the red fluid run out. I checked the trans fluid level and sure enough it was low. It has to be being pulled op into the intake by engine vacuum I know, but why? I know quite a bit about engines but am not knowledgable at all about automatic trannys. Could it be that diaphram thingamadoogy on the right side of the transmission? I saw that it has a vacuum line connected to it. Any input from someone who knows about these things would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Tony

Yes the seal in the vacuum diaphram has gone out.

Jason is correct, the fluid is being pulled through a hole in the diaphram and into the intake.

Thanks guys
I really appreciate the quick responce,I've been thinking about this thing all afternoon and thats the only solution I could come up with. thanks for verifying. so I need to disconnect the vacuum line and blow out any remaining fluid in it, replace the vacuum module and reconnect the line. anything else I need to be aware of?
Thanks again for your help
Tony

modulator valve

If you can't reach from under neath, you can take out your seats and under the carpet is a removable panel. easiest way to replace.:D

Good information thanks
