Trans. issues

Well I found out that my trans, is junk, had the flar-up issue, and now there is metal in the pan. I was told 1400-1600 for the rebuild, isn't that great !Right around x-mas time. its a friend of mine so not being taken advantage of, and he is a cert. mechanic at the local ford dealer. Just sucks, sorry I'm venting but i was just hoping it was the solenoid pack. Oh well there better not be another problem with this, oh yeah getting the rear seals on the axle replaced to due to leaking.

What kind of metal was in the pan? These transmissions have issues with broken bands.

Thats what it was 2nd. and overdrive, I believe that is what I was told.
