Hey. My 01 explorer stopped going reverse. However in drive, it shifts great. It down shift, over drive, everything but reverse is just great.
There is no noise or rattling of any kind and i don't think that little piece from the planetary actually broke off. Is there a solenoid or switch in the valve body that can be replaced? Please help?

Sounds like the Low/Rev band broke. Very common problem. Only thing is trans has to come out and be disassembled to replace band.

Hey Sir. Truck drives great in low, high, 4x4, etc, no rattling of any kind, is this still the only solution

It will still have low gear when in D but manual Low the band is applied have you tried Man 1. You can remove pan and Rev servo cover and servo and see if you can apply the band with a long Phillips screwdriver. You may even find the broken lug off the band in the pan.
