2002 sport trac
I have a 2002 Sport Trac it starts fine, idles good in Park and Neutral. Reverse works, but when I put it in drive the engine stalls out like the trans is locked up. If I shift it into 1st quick enough it will stay running and then I can shift it into drive and it will operate normally until I come to a stop, I then have to shift into 1st.
I checked the trans range sensor and it does not have continuity between poles 5 and 8 when in Nuetral. The Hayes book I have says to replace the sensorif this condition exists. Does this sound like it Could be the problem. The vehilce has not been on any sort of Diognostic machine, but the dashboard engine light is also not flashing.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to this forum! Do you have another DTR sensor to compare readings? If the haynes manual says that there chould be continuity, and you don't have it, then it might be the problem (or one of the problems). Check the vehicle's wiring harness between pins 5, and 8 to see if there is power. Maybe it is not supposed to have power, and it might have blown the sensor (providing that the sensor is supposed to have continuity between those terminals).
