Year, Model & Trim Level
03 mountaineer
It seems to be at the right level but still have to rev it to get it into gear once in gear it is strong. 1st to second lags real bad and sometimes slams and 3 and 4 are ok and i cant get to go into 5th and if it does it lags bad. Also getting a p0775 code which is a solenoid code. But i dont get why have to rev it up so much to get it into gear or wat could cause it

Mine's doing something similar to that. I replace the transmission modulatorvalve and it helped a lot. But still does it let me know if y.ou find out what the problem is

It could be a number of different things to be quite honest.

Solenoid problem? I wouldn't doubt it, you most likely need new solenoids.
If you could tell us year/make/model it would help.

Let us know if you have any new info!

Hopefully this is a dumb question.... Have you checked the fluid level?

03 mountaineer v8... 230xxx miles... i put a new motor in it not knowing the condition of the trans... fluid was black and the bottom of the pan had black goo crap in it. Looks like its the oem filter and also awd isnt working only rear...im getting a rotational slinging of black looking trans fluid around the transfer case area... shifts very hard into second and 3rd and 4th shifts are ok and i have no fifth.

Seems when it sits for 5-10 min after driving or when.cold it will go right into gear. Althought when.cold it will go right into gear but it slips bad and i have to give it alot of gas to move it but once its going for a minute its fine.

Trans fluid is supposed to be red. Take it to a shop and have them flush and service the trans. Usually about $100-$150 bucks.

If that doesn't fix it, you're going to need to find a tranny shop. The fact that it works when warm sounds like fluid issues to me, but I am admittedly not a tranny expert.

Hey i said i replaced a modulator valve and it kinda worked . well i took it to a tyranny shop and they put a new one in and it shifts great. I guess it was bent so wasn't working right.
