Here is the picture of the Vb and Circled the tcc yes you will have to drop the pan and remove the wiring clip to the solenoids and remove the bolt then take it out and out it back the worst part is the pan. Oh by the way Picture courtesy of Glaciers Diary

Ok, I get it now. Id much rather find a source and buy a new or known to be good solenoid if I have to drop the pan.

I think before I do that, I need to get a diagnosis somehow. I may be able to get my friend to give up on the expo and help me get the trans tester to fix my tranny. I'm assuming that the tester will reveal if the TCC is bad?

Yes And from what I know It can tell you more

The transmission tester will allow you to electrically test the TCC solenoid, and when driving you can command TCC lockup on demand and see if it is operating properly. And thanks Toy for finding him that pic. There are closeups too... in the first page or two of the part 1 of the 4R70W diary in the stickies section above.

Let me know if your buddy can locate the tester... I'm pretty well adviced out without more input.

Solution found! I drove it some more, not having time to work on it. I had a CEL come on P1121. Something about TPS and MAF ratio bla bla. I checked my TPS and found my problem. The wire that goes to it had been laying on the EGR tube, which melted the insulation off of one of the wires. The wire had been grounding to the EGR tube. I tapped up the wire and zip tied it away from the tube. Problem fixed. No more TC problems!
