I did a search for this, but didn't find anything. So I will ask:
On my 96, which if I'm not mistaking has the 4R55E transmission, all seems well except for a couple of things (they don't seem too serious)
Sometimes the shift into overdrive is extremly delayed, like it will hang there in 3rd gear, you almost have to let off the gas to get it to go in. But not every time.
Then once in, if you punch it with out letting off the gas (torque converter locked) it won't kick down. However if you let off the gas (torque converter unlocks) then punch it it will kick down.
Should I be worried or concerned? Transmission seems to shift well otherwise. Has never slipped, or acted any different. Seems consistent weather warm or cold. OD Light has never flashed or done anything erratic.
Some other facts: Truck has about 183K on it, fluid looks good, doesn't smell burnt. Would changing it help, or does this sound like an electronic problem? I don't know alot about transmissions, just enough to be dangerous.
Thanks in advance!
