Wont kick down when passing??

Is it just mine or does any one else have this problem? When I pass it feels like the transmission is not down shift to passing gear every time ? It will shift out of OD but doesnt seem to rev up and take off. Can this be adjusted? Had a 98 Ranger 3.0, you punch it, it revs fast and shifts down low. Thanks!!

Automatic transmissions these day are made so they shift as soon as possable (for fuel economy). I don't know of any simple fixes, but you can see if B&M or Hurst makes a shift improver kit for your tranny. That should help but I could be wrong. That's just my 2 cents.
