My Speedometer fluctuates 20 to 30 mph. I've changed speedometer cable, VSS, speedometer head, VSS gear. The last thing I did was pull VSS from transfer case, inserted finger in mounting hole, (no jokes please) and was able to easily rotate the drive gear for the VSS, no resistance what so ever. This doe'snt seem right to me.
I have a diagram showing the Borg-Warner 13-54 Transfer case in the disassembled view. I don't see any kind of a keyway or pin that would secure this gear to the output shaft.
How hard will it be to disassemble the transfer case? Will I need any special tools?
Also I been told to drain the fluid and replace it with a 10 wt motor oil instead of the Automatic Transmission Fluid. Does'nt sound like good advice to me. Being an Aircraft Mechanic I'm a hard core Manual user.
Any help would be appreciated
