Started trying to replace my clutch today and found a problem. Besides somebody using loctite or somethin making all the bolts i need removed a major PITA, the stinkin T-case wont detach after removing the 5 required 13mm bolts. It looks like the previous owner used red RTV sealent for his new gasket upon the las clutch install. I'll have to double check that the five bolts are the exact right ones to remove t-case from extension housing but... i used a jack with blocks to try and break the case free from tranny and it woul not budge, there's not even room to use a screwdriver or pry bar to break it free, . if i did get the right bolts out then what do i do?? blast it with a propane torch, dump ranger in lake, lol????? thanks guys Happy Holidays

if u have a cheapo gasket scraper the ones that look like a reg screw driver use that i needed 2 of them to brake my case apart an still had to tap with a hammer

Never again w/o air rachet/trann jack

So i finally got the transfer case off with a 2x4 and 5lb hammer and it slipped of simple floor jack and fell, not on me thanks goodness, That tcase is so damn heavy! so everything was dismantled for the clutch change except the transmission; soaked everything with wd-40 bolts that is, shoulda used pb blaster but oh well, the tranny bolts were way to tight still and there was no freakin room to pry em loose with a cheater bar. Seems only an air ratchet could do the job for me. So i just put it all back together just barely getting the t-case back on without crushing my chest on a crappy homemade jack plate for it to rest and again did not crush any ribs, PITA!!!!! You guys are heroes who can do a clutch change with regular tools. Poor ranger will just sit there unable to function on the road just a giant wheelbarrow who only put around in 4 low, how freakin sad. Thanks for all the help, i almost got it!
Peace tnmudduck

this might be a dumb question but, did you drain it?

shouldnt be too bad if you drained it, i can remove a m5od without a jack.
