Anyone know what other transfercase will fit my '99 Ranger? I'd like to get one that works on dry pavement in 4x4!

Carnuck,
The transfercase will work in 4X4 on dry pavement however you will break something because the drive lines will bind. this will happen on Any transfercase.
What other transfercases will work on your 99 Ranger?
Atlas II transfercase from Advance Adaptors.

That may happen on any Ranger case, but there are LOTS of NP cases that can run on dry pavement no prob (My Jeeps have all run fine in 4 hi anyway) The weather around here can change every couple miles, and it is a royal pain to stop and shift the case in and out, for only a 100 foot stretch of snow or flood water, then have to shift back again because the road got dry (and back up, go forward, and back till the stupid thing pops out of 4 lo to 4 hi, then 2 hi) Maybe the Atlas would work, but I didn't read it had an open 4hi

Carnuck,
My Explorer has an Auto/4hi/4lo switch which will automaticly shift from 2wd to auto in the tuo mode(if less than 35mph). does your Ranger have this?
You could try posting this on the Ranger forum, maybe you'll get a more informative answer from one of the other Ranger owners.

Hey i have a dodge with the np203 which is full time 4wd but it can be converted to parttime and it runs fine on dry pave also... my bronco II had the same case as the explorer and i ran it on hardpacked hard hard clay dirt roads and never had a prob.

hope this helps

I asked the Ranger list guys, but no-one answered except to tell me my truck was a dog!
