So as I feared I had my transmission looked at and was told it needed replaced. I've used rockauto a ton in the past and was recommended that that's the best route for a new transmission also from someone on here. I have a 2004 XLS sport 4.0 4WD Vin w/K. Can someone tell me which exact one I need? I heard the Reman was a good one but I saw a couple of choices. Also does anyone know how this works if I go this route? I pay for it (using 10% coupon of course) plus shipping and have it shipped to the shop I choose, then they have the core shipped back? Also does anyone know what's standard labor for a transmission replacement. The first place quoted me 3250.00 including cost of tranny. Also does anyone thing it's a bad route to replace the transmission? I have had way too many issues with this car but it only has 65000 miles and has probably 5000$ in new parts this last couple of years. It's essentially worthless with a bad tranny and I wouldn't be able to find another car with that low of mileage for a decent price so I guess this is the route I'm going unless someone has any advice. Once again thanks for all the help. This board is amazing.
