Transmission band adjustment question.

I would like to know if it is possible to adjust the bands on a transmission in a 2000 ford explorer four wheel drive it has the sohc six cylinder and an automatic transmission. the symptoms it has are evident when you are accelerating and it is going to shift into third gear and if you push hard enough on the gas to make it down shift (the engine just revs) till you let off the gas then it will shift. Am I right to assume that it has something to do with the bands or is it something completely different

Ps. if you need more info on this vehicle I will do my best but cannot promise the world

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the transmission section. You have 2 adjustment studs on the driver's side of the transmission. A band adjustment will determine if the bands are broken. Check the sticky thread on the top of this section for more information.
