I've recently replaced the intermediate band in my 95 x (limited), 4x4 4r55e transmission. It's ready to go back on but I can't get the bellhousing to fit properly on the dowels. The torque converter is lined up and the pins are inserted on the fly wheel but the bell doesn't want to link up and slide all the way forward onto the dowels. Any help or suggestions would be grand! Thanks in advance... The Turdburgler

You may have inserted the input shaft backwards, short spline end goes in the trans, long spline end goes in the TC, the splines on the ends look the same but are not. If the shaft is in backwards the TC won't go into the pump far enough. This is a common mistake.

Yes Pop is right, check with a straightedge, the clearance from the bell housing to pilot, should be about 7/16" IIRC.

Also make sure the wire loom isn't stuck between the motor and tranny on top
