Ok so my overdrive light has been flashing for awhile now. The overdrive was working good, and the transmission was going good. The fluid was really old and dirty so I had it replaced about 2 weeks ago. Well today I stopped in traffic, and my transmission started slipping. Then made it like a mile and it stopped completly. Now its like its in nutral. Wouldnt go in foward or reverse. Then I let the car cool down for like 30mins while waiting for the tow truck driver and it started working again, and I went like 100feet up the road into a parking lot and got it towed home. I think Im going to take it to a transmission shop to have them look at it, but does anyone have anyideas what this could be? And worse case if I have to replace my transmission, is there somone that can recomend a place online to get a rebuilt one? I found this on ebay, and I called the guy and he says for my explorer (1998 4x4 limited sport v6) shipped with a 6 year warenty, its $1,000. Heres the link it also comes with a torq converter. Would this be the way to go? Anything bad about this one?
