Ok so my overdrive light has been flashing for awhile now. The overdrive was working good, and the transmission was going good. The fluid was really old and dirty so I had it replaced about 2 weeks ago. Well today I stopped in traffic, and my transmission started slipping. Then made it like a mile and it stopped completly. Now its like its in nutral. Wouldnt go in foward or reverse. Then I let the car cool down for like 30mins while waiting for the tow truck driver and it started working again, and I went like 100feet up the road into a parking lot and got it towed home. I think Im going to take it to a transmission shop to have them look at it, but does anyone have anyideas what this could be? And worse case if I have to replace my transmission, is there somone that can recomend a place online to get a rebuilt one? I found this on ebay, and I called the guy and he says for my explorer (1998 4x4 limited sport v6) shipped with a 6 year warenty, its $1,000. Heres the link it also comes with a torq converter. Would this be the way to go? Anything bad about this one?

Just gonna give you guys an update. I wound up having to get a new transmission. I called several local places around me and they wanted around $700 for a used transmission. I went on ebay and purchased a completely rebuilt transmission with a new torque converter for $1000shipped to my door. They say in the add that its $700shipped, but when you call them with the info, and pay the core charge, and for the torque converter I forget what they wanted but I offered them $1000shipped for everything and they took it. It comes with a 3year warranty and I figured for $300 more than a local yard for a completely rebuilt transmission, with that kind of a warranty I couldnt really go wrong. The transmission is in now and works great. I havent really drove it much because Im completly customizing the entire thing now. Bodykit, rims, shaved everything and custom paint. When its done Ill make sure I get some pics up. I just wanted to update the thread cause I hate searching threads and having no updates.this is the one i got
