Stock 96 explorer 4.0 4wd has check engine light on. The only code in there is for PO756 "shift solenoid B performance or stuck open". There is a hard shift from 1st to 2nd. Daily driver untill the emissions came due. I dropped the pan and pulled out the solenoid, checked it with a 9v battery. It seemed to work fine so I put it back in, cleaned the contacts, dabbed on a little dielectric grease, closed it up and topped off the fluid. The light and code came back on so I dropped the pan again and replaced the solenoid with a new one. I cleared the code and drove it a little and the light and code still come back on. I guess I have bad wiriring in there then? Can I run jumper wires? How do I troubble shoot this? I just need to get this back on the road. Thanks for any help here guys.

Try cleaning the electrical connector to the transmission case.

Thanks sonic67 I tried that but it didn't help. I passed emissions today so I'm happy. Thanks.
