Transmission Fluid Change.

Hello everyone, have used this website for many tips and tricks in helping me with saving a ton of money on fixing my 99 explorer sport myself I need some help with how to change the transmission fluid on my explorer any and all help will be helpful, i know its not a hard process but jus wanna be sure before i start anything

Welcome to this forum! Do you want to drop the pan or flush the fluid out of the cooler line?

yea drop the pan and change fluid and gasket

The pan bolts come out with a socket, and a ratchet. The procedure is straight forward. Make sure that the filter has new O rings. Don't over tighten the bolts.

is the trans filter located close to the transmisison, more than likely, haven't actually gone under the vehicle to look for that at least yet

The filter is inside of the transmission. You will see it when you remove the pan.

awesome thanks so much for your help and prompt responses everyone, im' guessing to use the recommended trans fluid from ford, my X has about 96000 is there high mileage trans fluid or jus use factory recommended? as you can tell i might sound non-mechanic like

Use Mercon V ATF.

so as u said earlier brooklyn the cooler lines? will those not be drained if i drop the pan?

No, they won't get drained out on their own.
