Hi - a newbie to posting here but been reading for a long time.
I now need your help. 1998 4.0 Explorer (updated model)
Reverse gear went a couple of months ago, sio took car off road and looked for a replacement box. Managed to acquire a 1997 box a couple of weeks ago. A mate and I decided to swap ourselves as "can't be that hard".
Now - no gears, but park locks up OK so it has definitely engaged correctly.
Don't flame me for my naivety (please).
When we took transmission off the torque converter stayed on the engine. Am I right in thinking this was a bad move. Or did we do something else stupid.
Anybody any ideas what fault I might have got. There are no error codes, as had that checked.
Really appreciate any help given.
Many thanks - Les
