I have a 03 4x4 explorer with the 4.0. my transmission went out all at once no forward or reverse. It will act like like it wants to move if you rev it up but just barely rocks. I didn't mess with the one that's in it except for checking the fluid level. I found one online a guy had that came out of a wrecked 03, he already had it out and he showed me the title which was for a 03 explorer. I didn't pay much attention to my transmission while it was still in but as I was taking it out I noticed the difference in them, my starter is on the driver's side and the transmission I bought is on the passenger side ( my mistake for not paying attention before hand) but everything else looks the same except for the trans lines. Pan and shifter and transfer case all looks identical. So my big question is what transmission did I actually buy. He says it was from a 03 4x4 with a 4.0 but im thinking it might be from a V8. Any ideas 9n what it could be from or any pointers on what to check or change on the one that's in mine.
