Hi guys !! ok this is bothering me , on the highway only when I step on the gas at high rpms it shift nice but on the last gear it kind of slows for 2 seconds and it shifts a but it makes this noise like when you go over the ribs on the side of the road but only as it shifts , and than all is fine , I have notice that if I don't step on the gas hard it doesn't do it anyone have had this happen to them ? I did a search but I didn't find anyone with this problem

Thank you ! :-)

A few more details about the vehicle? 4x4? 4.0 SOHC?

odds are its a 5r55e or off chance maybe a 5r55s. the "last gear" is usually a torque converter locking/unlocking. Its not really a gear but it drops the RPM's enough that most people think of it like a shift to a new gear.

What RPM and speed does this happen at?

They all eventually do it.

You need an additive.

I think it's called Dr something Shudder Stop or something like that.

It's less than $10 and it works.

I had the same issue about 2 years ago.

I put it in mine, I was kind of sceptical, but it worked.

TCC is the last thing felt as a "shift". After 5th. gear engages. Confirm TCC engaged by watching tachometer drop while holding gas pedal steady. Then SLIGHTLY increase gas pedal pressure. Engine rpms should not jump up suddenly. If they do, the clutch is not engaged. This test must be done at 50 mph or a bit higher, on level road, no hill. imp

Dr Tranny Instant Shudder Fix

It is an additive that eliminates torque converter lock up shudder.

Hi kryhavoc , its a 2wd 4.0 I think its a ohc , it never did this its not so much a bother but a worry , it does do it allot most or almost most of the time in the highway around 50mph and around 2500 rpms if I do around 50mph on a steady gas it does do it but if I got down to 50mph and step on it around 3000rpms it does it , I did put a quart of lucas transmission something and it work great almost like a new tranny but a few month later it started doing this , if its normal than I'm kool with it :-)

Thank you all for the responses

Hey SupaSwope I'm guessing using Dr Tranny Instant Shudder Fix and not the kissing part !!! :-) it takes 10 sec and I got mine at Advance Auto parts for $ 7.99 and in about 2 miles of driving , it really works :)
