03 XLT V8
Hi All,
My first post here, forum is great, helped me a lot to fix and mod my 94 Limited over the years,

Got a strange problem with my 03 XLT V8.
I went to the dealer many time and it seem they are not able to find the solution. Maybe someone, here, already had this situation before.

60k (100 000km) still covered by a Ford Extra Care warranty.

After driving a while, an hesitation appear under hard acceleration, feels like the tranny is kicking, no CEL light. Mechanic at the dealer said it feel like the AWD is trying to engage wheel. At low speed, when decelerating and the tranny is shifting down, it kick very hard.

First they said it was probably a tire
with a slight different size causing the problem, i bought 4 new Michelin AT2 and had them measured with a laser.

After, they changed valve body, selenoid pack, coil pack, spark plug, tranny oil, updated computer prorgam. nothing helped.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

My suggestion is to get it to a very reputable transmission shop. Ford isn't going to want to pick up the $2000 cost of a new transmission so they are going to fiddle around and shrug their shoulders. Pay the few bucks to have it diagnosed by an independant party then take the results back to the dealer.

The trans in my 03 acted similarly, but I have 125,000 miles on it. I'm in for $2200 right now and waiting to get mine back from the shop with a new trans and torque converter.

The quicker it's diagnosed the better off you are.

Thanks for your reply,
I will try to get it back and get a second independent opinion, my truck has been sitting at Ford for a week now, with no result.

Should I go to another dealer, maybe with another mechanic ?

In the last 6 months, since i purchased the vehicle, it was at the dealer more often than i used it.

I forgot to mention that they already replaced the torque converter.

It is the first time for me saying this, but good thing that i bought the Extra Care warranty...

So far, i only had problem...

Coil Spring, engine pulley, rear differential, front differential, coil pack, original paint falling off in big chunk, wheel beering, ball joint, torsion bar, sway bar, engine rough idle, tranny problems, ...
