I have an 02 eddie beaur v6. The car has 234,000 miles. I have only had to replace the water pump. Did it myself. Car has been awesome. But now the transmission is acting up just a bit. I have done NOTHING to the transmission in the way of maintenance. It is clanking when I put it into reverse. Moves through the gears smoothly. What are your thoughts. Or should I just leave it and praise God for it lasting this long!

did it myself. its maybe an hour job if you have no clue and read the how to, but if at all mechanically inclined it should be no longer than 30 minutes. i made my own tool to refill the tranny, and you should buy a new drain plug from the dealer. with fluid, filter, and plug i spent less than $100. i had everything to make the fill tool, but if you had to buy and build your own it should be less than $20 for that.

The fluid is tricky... I'm still fighting with mine... Fluid and filter is easy.

DAT05explorer- can you post pic's of your tool, and maybe a quick how to service? PLEASE:-)

Autozone sells a suction gun that works great for about $12. They're by the grease guns.

Then all you need is a $3 barbed fitting from the hardware store. 1/8th" NPT I believe.

Personally, at that mileage if it has never been touched I would not touch it.

Did the change...had a professional do it for 100.00 (friend of mine). Fluid was bright red when it came out...sweet. So now fluid and filter and we are off!!
Thanks for all the help guys!
