Transmission removal

I have a 1998 explorer XLT and the clutch plates are slipping in OD, I an removing the tranny and I am old school. There used to be inspection plates at the base to get to the torque converter bolts any input on this issue?

Remove the starter and you can see the nuts that you need to remove in order to seperate the torque converter from the flywheel/flexplate.
