Looking to get a transmission service done as per the recomendation of another board member. I called Ford today for a price as well as a standard mechanic. I got two different explanations on the services they'd perform.

Ford will do a full flush draining the converter as well as the rest of the fluid, but they don't change the filter. Cost is $129.99

Mechanic Quoted me for a fluid drain and refill as well as a filter replacement for $69.95.

Which is typical to have done? The Ford option seems best, but why wouldn't they change the filter?

They are not dropping the pan. They suck the fluid out of the dipstick tube or the cooler line. The mechanic is dropping the pan, but not draining the TC.

I'd go with the filter change and fluid swap, maybe get a drain plug installed while he's in there as well. Then just change the fluid every so often and you'll eventually get all the fluid in the tranny.
