In the last two months I've noticed twice that the transmission felt like it was slipping into second and revving to high into third. It only happen twice in two months after I would pull out of my driveway and drive a block. Also, the second time the engine had been idling for about 7 minutes while I did some other things. So I would assume that the trans. temp would be normal unless the trans. only warms up after it is driven and used. Question is whether or not my trans. is showing signs of blowing up. Fluid looks fine, I don't tow anything and I am usually the only load its carrying.

Thx, 02XLS :us: :salute:

sounds like servos.

What 'n where is that located?

The servos are on the side. How many miles does it have? When was the last time the fluid, and filter were replaced? These transmissions have issues with the solenoid blocks starting to fail around 60K miles, and the bores where the servos ride in get a little shaved down. Sonnax makes a repair kit for that problem. I would recommend starting with a new filter, and fresh fluid.

that's funny, i had this issue at almost EXACTLY 60K miles (59500)

my tranny has 68K....Any idea what the servos n PCM flash repairs cost? Since the servos is located on the outside iof the tranny can an 'above average novice' make this repair/replacement?

Thx, 02XLS

You could replace the servos while the transmision is still in the vehicle, but they are hard to compress to reinstall. The area they are in has the catalytic converter in the way too, but it's still possible to do. Check WWW.TransmissionPartsUSA.Com for the servos. A transmission shop or the dealer could flash the PCM, and install a new tune. Everybody has a different price for this service. One member had this done about 2 weeks ago, and paid $115. It depends upon the hourly labor rate of the shop. Check WWW.ATRA.Com for a shop in your area. You might be better off having a transmission shop do both jobs if you've never done this kind of work before. The shops make a huge mark up on the parts, so you could save a few dollars if you buy the parts yourself.
