Hey all...

I have a few questions regarding my transmission. I just bought this 93 explorer with an auto transmission cause my 92 ranger transmission went out on me. I figured if I'm going to spend 800 to fix the transmission in a shop on my old truck I might as well use it to buy something else. So I got the explorer. Apparently even though the transmission was rebuilt last year in it (according to the seller) it is slipping a little now. So my questions are these:

Is it better to overhaul or rebuild the transmission? Does this depend on what is wrong with it? Would synthetic transmission fluid help for now? Would it be a good idea to flush the transmission fluid or use lucas or sea foam or something like that?

Thanks!

Unfortunatly a rebuild is only as good as the parts used. If they used crap parts, then it won't last long. If it was me, I would take it to a good shop and have them go through it. I'd say if its slipping, it will only get worse. There really isn't any type of simple fix. Make sure there is no coolant in the tranny oil, thats really the only way it could have been destroyed this fast. It might be too late for this one though. Hell, just run it until it quits completely and have it completely rebuilt.
