I have a 1999 ford explorer automatic transmission and every now and then(ONCE EVERY 100MILES) it will slip around 20MPH, I was told it was a band but I was also told it was a valve body gasket. the solenoid was replaced approx. 1,500 miles ago and the fluid/filter was recently done within 500 miles... also it doesn't want to go into drive right away either.... Any ideas??????????

a transmission shop said that almost all explorers have slipping problems. he also said it could be a number of things

Brooklyn bay, do you think using seafoam would take care of it since the problem only occurs like once every 100miles??

Good that you mention that. Don't listen to shops when they say all have slipping problems and it could be a number of things. If my shop says that I would never go again. Bc he does not know anything
