transmission swap , help needed

good evening guys I have a 96 Ford Explorer 2 wheel drive with a 4.0 l the transmission is slipping when changing between 2nd and 3rd but if you let off the accelerator,
it will go on into third I ended up coming across this transmission my coworker had, he said that it was a 95 or 96. Well now that looking at the casing the numbers are a little different and the neutral safety switch plugs or different also switch on my truck has a 8-pin plug.the transmission that I brought has a 12 pin plug. Question is will I be able to swap thistransmission into my Explorer if I swap theneutral safety switch plugs? Thanks in advance

Be it I'm no idiot that casting is a 97 casting, IDK much about transmissions but that does help I'd think.

IIRC, your 96 uses a 4r55e transmission and depending on what vehicle you got the other transmission out of, (97 up) it may be a 5r55e which is a no go, unless you swap harnesses and ECU.

the trans came out of a 97 from the looks of the numbers on transmission. i only paid 200 bucks for it. but kinda sucks i gotta change more. should of did more research before i made the move

do i already have the harness for the 5r55e in the pictures? is that all i need for as harness? i can get a pcm for 97 on ebay

Looks like you might, but you will need to compare pin outs in the plugs to make sure.
