Well this is something new to me. With the vehicle running I can't get my transmission to shift out of park. It will however shift when the key is turned forward and NOT running. It will "full cycle" shift once I start her in neutral.
I'm thinking it may be the neurtral safety switch or another electrical component but I REALLY don't want to start dropping money into multiple components that aren't needed.

Any thoughts/sugestions?

I assume you are pressing the brake pedal when trying to shift, correct?

Yes I was.

just replaced the 8 pin switch and now it would seem that my "linkage" allignment is off, I have to manually move the lever.
And I also discovered that the brake lights are not working, gonna get a new switch and try that.
*grrrr*

the brake switch should fix it

Switch is good, just tested it with a multimeter. So now I'm gonna disconnect the brakelight "strobe", I'm thinking that's gone bad.

Update, removed the strobe switch and brake/shift issue solved. I'm hoping I've got the trans. shift in a proper position. If nothing else I'm carring a 7/8" socket on a ratchet with me tonight if I have to crawl underneath and "drop it" into position.
