Transmission won't shift.

I have a 94 Explorer 4.0, after sitting overnight or just sitting for the day my transmission will not go into gear. I have to rev up the engine to get it into gear, once there and the truck warms the transmission seems to shift fine. Anybody have and ideas?

It might be a sticky governor if you have a delayed 1-2 shift when it's cold. If it won't go into gear at all when it's cold, then it sounds like the valve body gaskets.

It won't go into gear at all until i rev up the engine around 2000 rpms. Once it get's into gear, it will stay here until it sits again.

Did you check the fluid level, and the O rings on the filter?
