2001 explorer sport trac
I have been having transmission problems and leave my truck, a 2001 sport trac 2wd auto e-ohc v6, in the driveway since it's not dependable. Every so often I will drive it, and the same results happen every time: I drive about 7 miles getting up to 65 mph, return to my neighborhood, shut off engine while I stop at a stop sign, restart engine, drive into 1st gear, and finally the transmission begins to act up, with flashing od light, by barely catching gears. The transmission works fine until I turn off and restart the engine. Any knowledge out there?

No, I mean why are you shutting the engine off at a stop sign? Or stoplight?

Yea

I was figuring what causes the problem that's why I restarted the engine.

get it rebuilt, heat from using it seems to be an issue

at some point it will stop working all together
- I changed valve bodies, helped a bit, but the fix was a rebuild with stronger parts
