Hi evryone, I'm working on a 2003 mountanieer with a V6 and auto trans.Trans code V(5r55s i believe)about 150k mi. I got the Check trans light flashing at me and scanned it. I found P0741 torque converter slipping/not engaging. I did alot of research and decided to replace to solenoid pack and the plate between the valvebody and transmission. I've heard that those plates will crack and cause weak pressure to the tcc. I went ahead and replaced it all last night, new filters and gaskets, filled with fliuid. and went to go drive it. Well i put it in reverse and backed out of the garage. When i went to shift to drive it made a loud clank. i went to give it some gas and it keeps going backwards! tried all gears 3,2,1. even in neutral it will drive backwards. I was careful not to mix anything up and everything installed smoothly. No leaks. I checked the part no. on the old solenoid pack and it ended with AF. I looked at the box and the new one(from ford) is an AG. Is this just an updated part or did i get the wrong Solenoids? Ive done plenty of valve bodys on other transmission and havent had a problem. Im stumped and have looked evrywhere. hopefully someone here can help. Thanks in Advance

Im wondering if i may have installed the low reverse servo 180 out. Is this even possible? the bolt pattern seemed off set as to only allow one way installation. Also If any one can point me towards a tightening order/torque spec sheet i would greatly appreciate it. I found one awhile ago but i cant seem to relocate it.

you cant install the low reverse sevo 180 out. it only fits one way. That leaves me with the valvebody/plate. unless check balls go on the top half of the plate and they fell out... which i dont think happened... then im stumped. please anyone. im running out of options!

So I took the valve body out again, double checked to make sure i had the right seperator plate. I do. Re installed the valve body, low reverse servo and solenoid pack. filled it with fluid and same thing reverse works perfect, I shift to drive, it slams and makes a horrendous noise. I let off the brakes and guess what.. the wheels go backwards:mad::mad::mad::mad:

I cant find anything wrong, its basically a bolt out, bolt in deal. no measurements or adjustments to make. if any one has a repair manual or has a picture of a correctly installed valve body, that would be awesome. at this point a kick in the nuts would be better than dealing with this. im ready to push this car off a cliff.

Thanks, Ya that helps alot. but it seems as if iv done evrything as it says in the manual. does the new solenoid need an tcm update? if i didnt update it would it cause this to happen?

I guess if everythings right the next step is a valve body...

does anyone have experience with 800700tran.com? Very cheap...just wondering if its a get what you pay for kinda deal.
