trasfer case hung in 4 wheeldrive

transfer case on my 05 ranger seems to be engaged in 2wheel drive?with the truck in neutral can not turn front drive line by hand.had a 99 ranger its front drive line could be turned by hand.anyone have any idea about this?

Your 99 had PVH hubs so the tires would disconnect from the front axle. I believe around 2000-2001 ford quit using the PVH system and went with a hubless system. Your front drive line is now always spinning. No one makes manual hubs for the new rangers so it pretty much has to stay the way it is.
