Tri-coat painting

My X has Ceramic White Pearl Tricoat color code F6. The hood is starting to flake off in spots. Beacause its in a small area that isnt very open and flat I think it would be hard to tell if it didnt match. So does anybody have tips on painting tri-coat? very old pic btw.

your best bet for many many reasons is to take it to a shop.
Any self respecting shop will be able to repair that area to be undetectable.

Even tho' you think it wouldn't show much, doesn't mean it wouldn't, sorry.....that's the 1st thing most people see.....the front of the hood.....it's harder to match up shades of white, if it wasn't near perfect it would stand out like a wrapped up sore thumb IMO....take it to a body/paint shop ....a less than 5 yr. old truck is too pretty to possibly mismatch shades of paint

The dealership wants $1500 to fix it. they said that they have to repaint the whole hood and part of the sides for it to look like new again.

Go to a couple of "body shops" and get quotes from them. Will probably be much less than a dealership.

partially true.

If all you need it the small area indacated then they can blend with in.

Meaning put the color on the damaged area and fade out. The whole hood would need to be cleared though.
Blending into the fenders on a hood job is 100% normal practice though. However it is not always required.
