first off, this site has been helping me a lot with my car since i found it a few months ago trying to find out how to fix my broken door latch. i also reupholstered the center console with the help of this site and next i plan on replacing a door lock actuator.
Now onto the problem: i have a 99 explorer sport 2wd and it sometimes (its happened 3 times in the last 100 miles) doesnt shift into second gear, instead it just revs up until i let off the pedal then press the pedal again and it works. it is an automatic.
also if this has anything to do with the problem, it sometimes sputters (sp?) in reverse or 1st gear when moving from a sandstill.
i dont know much about cars so sorry if this is already posted somewhere... i am not sure what keywords to look for. with my searches i saw a lot of transmission slipping threads - i also have a 98 ranger 4x4 and have experienced that problem but this is different.
does anyone have any suggestions as to what i should do with it, threads to read, keywords, etc. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks
