When my 92 explorer hasnt been run for a few hours and i try to start it, it starts up for a few seconds idle rough and die. the second time you start it usually fires right up. Any suggestions?

Try cycling the key on and off a few times to cycle the fuel pump a few times prior to starting it. Maybe even put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail to see if the fuel pressure is coming up like it should.

The fuel pressure regulator cold be bleeding off pressure in between starts. Leave your key in the "run" position for a few seconds before you try to start. If it starts right up after that, you know what it is.
