hey guys-
I just replaced the factory 6x8s in my '93 sport because the one in the passenger door had been doing something pretty strange for some time now: when the truck gets pretty warm and I've had the stereo on for awhile, that one speaker will give off this awful squeal (it sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard) for maybe 10 seconds at a time, then it'll stop for 30 seconds or so, then start again. my solution to date, of course, is to just turn Dave Matthews up so loud that it's hard to notice the speaker acting up :). I put a new deck in a little more than a year ago, and fully expected to toast the OME's so I didn't think the noise was anything more than a product of running 40 watts thru cardboard equipment, but I replaced them a few weeks ago with some halfway decent 3-way Pioneers and they STILL DO IT!!! what up with that?? could I have screwed up the wiring way back when I put the deck in? or do I have some rotten insulation somewhere?? any ideas would be greatly appreciated here... under the hood, I'm your man. but aside from the VERY simple, I'm pretty much lost when you open up the door panel.

thanks
Aaron

when you changed reciever and shoved that spaghetti mess of wires back in behind the head unit, you probably got a short some where on that speaker wire. you should also check to see that the contacts on the speaker arn't touching or resting on the metal part of the door, where you would screw it in. if thats the case, just flip the speaker over and screw it back in. simple but sometimes hard to avoid. i hope this helps, good luck to you man, i know how annoying it can be.

much appreciated, Exploder99. I should probably get the door apart and put in some foam insulation anyway, they buzz a bit with the added thumping :) now... if I could only find my din tool.
