I just got a major tune-up hoping this would be fixed, but for some reason when I stop at a light the tach reads like at 650rpm, and the needle holds there, but I can still feel the truck trying to inch forward while my foot is on the brakes. Its like you are holdding the brake down but lightly tapping the gas.
It weird it feels like the torque converter is actually spinning fast enought to move the truck with the brakes on, but it is only idleing at 650rp. Any idea???

What did your "tune up" consist of?

If you got plug wires done, make sure they are each on the correct plug and spot on the coil pack. I'd pull the plugs and make sure they are gapped correctly as well, and are torqued to spec.

The tune-up was a new set of plugs, fuel filter, o2 sensors, replaced egr valve and sensor, air filter. Didn't replace the wires though. The truck only has 80,000 miles. The gap is fine, because the idle problem was happening before the tune-up as well.

Try -

A - Clean the MAF sensor element

B - Check the IAC and clean that as well

C - Reset the CPU by removing the neg. battery cable for 10 minutes ..

Maybe 30 minutes of easy work that can make a big difference ....

If the idle was bad before the tune up, then it could be the spark plug wires that you didn't replace. 80K miles is a lot for a set of plug wires.

Agreed ... 80k is way over their life ...

I'd still suggest the MAF/IAC cleaning first ...

maybe just reset the computer?
l
alot of tuning and no resetting of the computer could lead to a mild ruff idel

Sounds like your IAC acting up. Change it! :)

ok I will try replaceing the wires and cleaning that Mas air sensor. How do you clean the IAC valve?

how can i clean the IAC valve?

I clean mine with carb cleaner and a little wire brush or use sea foam and a wire brush:D

where is the IAC? what does it look like...is it the silver tube thing behind TPS about the middle of the intake?

It should be on the drivers side on the upper intake. It has one plug in and two 10mm bolts that hold it on

Jam it up
