My 97 explorer rocks from side to side really bad when going over bumps, dips in the road or other uneven surfaces...
Any ideas as to what may be the cause?

shocks... atleast... see mine did that really bad when i first got it. i bought some shocks and added add-a-leaves for the rear. some people say it makes it too stiff but i think it rides just fine. and it helped ALOT with my sway. i then had mono leaves in the back now i have the add-a-leaves on my 4dr leaf springs. i don't think its too stiff at all. makes it feel safe to drive when its not flopping all over

Thanks for the quick response. What about the struts? Any possibility I may have damaged something?

is it 2wd or 4wd. either way its a torsion bar suspension up front. with shocks not struts. i'm like 99.999% sure there are no struts. atleast there aren't on the 4wd's and i don't think the 2wd's are much different in setup besides the 4wd part but no worries someone will jump in to correct me if im wrong

The addition of an Explorer Express sway bar would be a great help. I too would look at the shocks.

Good luck .....
